NMDC rolls out revised wage structure for non-executive staff

The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has rolled out a comprehensive wage revision for its non-executive workforce, introducing a modernised compensation package designed to enhance employee benefits while maintaining fiscal prudence.

Under the new framework effective from January 2022, the revised wage structure provides for 100 per cent dearness allowance (DA) neutralisation, ensuring employees are fully protected against inflation impacts. The package incorporates a 15 per cent minimum guaranteed benefit component, providing a performance-linked incentive floor for eligible staff members.

The restructured compensation model introduces a Cafeteria Approach for additional benefits, with perks valued at 30 per cent of basic pay. This flexible arrangement allows non-executives to select benefits according to individual preferences, encompassing health insurance, retirement planning instruments, and other welfare provisions.

The move reflects NMDC's commitment to competitive remuneration standards in the mining and metals sector. The revised structure aims to attract and retain skilled talent while ensuring sustainable human resource management across the corporation's operations.

NMDC, a Maharatna-status public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, operates India's largest iron ore mining facilities. The wage revision applies across the corporation's mining, processing, and administrative divisions.
