MANILA — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has no tax clearance or records demonstrating that lawyer Manases "Mans" Carpio actually transferred his purported shares in Cale88 Foods Corp., House impeachment adviser and spokesperson former Rep. Robert Ace Barbers said Wednesday.
Barbers raised the absence of official BIR documentation during a press briefing, highlighting a gap in the evidentiary trail regarding the alleged share transfer by Carpio, who is the spouse of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte.
The revelation forms part of ongoing inquiries into the financial dealings and business interests of high-ranking government officials. Without tax clearance records or transfer documentation from the BIR, questions remain about when or whether the ownership transfer actually occurred.
The impeachment proceedings have focused scrutiny on Carpio's business affiliations and financial activities as part of a broader examination of potential conflicts of interest. The lack of official records could become significant in determining the timeline and legitimacy of the alleged transaction.
