Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that Members of Parliament can receive their Community Support Allocation allocations without any stipulated conditions, following Parliament's approval of Budget 2027.
Anwar said the funds will be channelled to MPs in accordance with an understanding reached among coalition partners, once the budget passes parliamentary scrutiny. The CSA programme is designed to support grassroots community development initiatives across parliamentary constituencies.
The clarification comes as Parliament continues deliberations on the 2027 budget allocation. The Prime Minister's statement addresses concerns among MPs regarding potential conditions or restrictions that might be attached to the fund distribution.
The CSA has become an important tool for MPs to implement development projects in their respective constituencies, ranging from educational facilities to community welfare programmes. Officials said the streamlined approval process is intended to enable quicker disbursement to constituencies once budgetary procedures are completed.
Parliament is expected to table further discussions on the 2027 budget in coming weeks.
