Noida International Airport faces slower growth amid geopolitical headwinds
Operator Zurich Airport International has cautioned that India's newest major airport will experience a more gradual ramp-up in operations due to global uncertainties, though it maintains confidence in the aviation sector's long-term prospects.

Noida International Airport, situated in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, commenced commercial operations on June 15 and is expected to experience a "slower ramp-up" in passenger traffic, according to its Swiss operator Zurich Airport International AG. The airport operator cited a challenging geopolitical environment and elevated near-term uncertainty as key factors influencing growth projections, though it expressed strong confidence in India's aviation market fundamentals.
The facility has shown early traction since its launch, handling 204 flights and accommodating 25,000 passengers during its first operational month in June. Activity accelerated significantly in July, when the airport processed 1,044 flights and served 77,000 passengers, indicating growing demand despite operational challenges.
Zurich Airport International has indicated that route expansion will continue, with international services expected to be introduced at the facility in coming months. The company's investor presentation for the first half of 2026 underscored confidence in the Indian aviation market's structural growth potential and competitive positioning.
