Noida launches 24-hour ambulance priority scheme to beat traffic

Traffic police in Noida and Greater Noida have rolled out 'Operation Fast', a new initiative designed to clear roads for ambulances in emergency situations. Under the scheme, police personnel will pre-position themselves at key intersections to facilitate smooth passage for ambulances upon receiving advance notification.

The system operates on a 24-hour basis, ensuring that emergency vehicles receive priority clearance at all times. Upon receiving information about an ambulance en route, traffic personnel will immediately clear congested intersections and corridors to enable rapid transit through the city.

To facilitate the service, authorities have issued a dedicated helpline number—9218891716—which ambulance operators can contact to alert police about their movement. The helpline will enable real-time coordination between emergency responders and traffic management teams.

The initiative is aimed at reducing response times for medical emergencies across Noida's congested arterial roads. Officials expect the scheme to significantly improve emergency response capabilities in the region by minimizing delays caused by vehicular congestion.
