Noida police shoot wanted criminal in encounter; two officers wounded

Uttar Pradesh police confirmed that Aman Tyagi, 28, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district, was killed in the encounter in Noida. Tyagi was wanted in connection with an attempt-to-murder case and had been the subject of an active manhunt.

The operation turned violent when Tyagi, armed and allegedly resisting arrest, engaged police personnel in an exchange of fire. Two constables suffered injuries during the gunfight and were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.

According to police records, Tyagi had evaded capture for several months following his booking in the attempt-to-murder case. The ₹50,000 reward announced on his arrest had made him one of the more prominent fugitives in the region.

The Noida police have registered a case in connection with the encounter. An investigation is underway to document the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Senior officials stated that the action was taken in self-defence after Tyagi opened fire on police personnel.
