Noida Residents Escalate Hunger Strike Demanding Power Supply

Residents of the Pushta Park area in Noida have launched an escalated hunger strike campaign to press their demands for electricity connections and basic civic amenities. According to community leaders, between 4 lakh and 5 lakh families have inhabited the Hindon floodplain settlement for a decade or more without access to power grids, adequate water supply, or fundamental infrastructure.

The protest represents growing frustration among residents who say they have been systematically neglected by local authorities despite repeated appeals for assistance. Community spokesperson Sukhbir Khalifa highlighted the scale of deprivation, noting that hundreds of thousands of people continue to live in conditions lacking even rudimentary services.

The hunger strike marks an escalation in residents' efforts to draw attention to their plight and force government intervention. Activists involved in the campaign have previously engaged with municipal and state officials without achieving substantive results.
