'The Odyssey' has officially claimed the title of highest-grossing R-rated film in cinema history, according to industry reports. The film's worldwide collection of USD 1.352 billion exceeds the previous record holder 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' which garnered USD 1.338 billion globally.
Since its theatrical release on July 17, the epic has demonstrated remarkable commercial strength across all markets. The film generated USD 123 million during its opening weekend domestically, ultimately accumulating USD 516 million from the United States and Canada, with an additional USD 835 million sourced from international territories.
The box office triumph adds to a series of achievements for the film, which has already become the highest-grossing production of Nolan's career. The ensemble cast, which includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and others, has also set personal box office records for several of its members.
