North Korea conducts ballistic missile test over Sea of Japan

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff detected the ballistic missile launches originating from areas surrounding Pyongyang on Tuesday, according to regional monitoring reports. The military confirmed that several missiles were successfully fired, with at least some reaching distances of more than 900 kilometers before impacting in the Sea of Japan.

The launches represent the latest in a series of weapons tests conducted by North Korea in recent months. Such demonstrations have drawn repeated condemnation from Seoul and Washington, which view them as violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions and destabilizing provocations in the region.

South Korea's defense ministry said it was closely monitoring the situation and maintaining heightened military readiness. The country's armed forces have maintained continuous surveillance of North Korean military activities along the demilitarized zone separating the two nations.

The test underscores persistent tensions on the Korean peninsula and North Korea's continued pursuit of advanced missile capabilities. Regional governments and international observers continue to track Pyongyang's weapons development programs closely.
