MANILA — The northeast monsoon will continue to bring heavy rains to parts of extreme northern Luzon through Friday, the state weather bureau reported Tuesday. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the amihan system remains active across the northernmost provinces, affecting weather patterns in the region. Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres indicated in the early morning forecast that the monsoon's influence is expected to persist until week's end, bringing moisture-laden winds from the northeast. Residents and local authorities in affected areas are advised to monitor conditions closely, as the sustained rainfall could lead to localized flooding in low-lying communities and landslide-prone areas. Fair weather is anticipated to gradually return to the region once the monsoon system weakens after Friday.
