CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Philippine National Police's Northern Mindanao regional office has activated enhanced security protocols to manage expected protests marking the anniversary of Martial Law, which was declared 54 years ago.
Maj. Joann Navarro, spokesperson for Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10), confirmed that uniformed personnel have been positioned in strategic areas throughout the region to monitor activities and ensure the safety of residents and demonstrators alike.
The deployment comes as various groups prepare to commemorate the historic declaration through mass actions scheduled across the region. Police said they remain committed to protecting the public's right to peaceful assembly while maintaining order.
Authorities have urged organizers and participants to coordinate with local police and adhere to public safety guidelines. PRO-10 did not provide additional details regarding the scope or duration of the heightened alert status.
