Dr. Najith Indika, an MP representing the National People's Power, has publicly objected to SLPP member Namal Rajapaksa's recent reference to former South African President Nelson Mandela during parliamentary debate.
The NPP lawmaker contended that Rajapaksa's invocation of Mandela was inappropriate and factually misleading. Indika emphasised that Mandela was imprisoned for his struggle against apartheid and political persecution, not for corruption-related offences, highlighting what he described as a fundamental mischaracterisation of the historical figure.
