NSC denies snubbing Azizulhasni's 2028 Olympic Games proposal
Malaysia's National Sports Council has rejected claims it disregarded cyclist Azizulhasni Awang's preparation plans for the 2028 Olympics, stating it has already backed his requests. The council said it will finalise funding once the athlete submits his detailed programme.

The National Sports Council (NSC) has moved to clarify its position regarding support for cyclist Azizulhasni Awang's Olympic ambitions, denying allegations that it had sidelined the athlete's 2028 Games preparation strategy.
The council stated that it has in fact endorsed Azizulhasni's requests and remains committed to backing his Olympic campaign. According to the NSC, the next step in the process requires the cyclist to formally submit his comprehensive training and competition programme.
Once the detailed plan is received and reviewed, the council said it will proceed to finalise the necessary funding allocation for the athlete's four-year preparation cycle leading up to the Los Angeles Olympics.
Azizulhasni, a prominent Malaysian track cyclist, has previously represented the country at multiple Olympic Games and Asian championships. His pursuit of another Olympic campaign comes as Malaysia continues to invest in its cycling programme ahead of the 2028 Games.
