The National Stock Exchange's long-awaited IPO commenced trading subscriptions on Wednesday, drawing moderate investor interest on the first day of the offering period. The issue received subscriptions equivalent to 16% of the shares on offer, signaling cautious sentiment among retail and institutional investors.

The exchange had already secured substantial backing from anchor investors, raising Rs 6,746.18 crore through the anchor book on September 16. NSE allotted 3.78 crore equity shares to anchor investors at Rs 1,785 per share, demonstrating strong institutional confidence in the exchange operator ahead of the public subscription window.

The IPO represents a significant milestone for India's premier stock exchange, marking its transition to a publicly listed entity. The share price band and grey market premium will provide further insights into market sentiment as the subscription period progresses.

Retail and institutional investors have several days remaining to participate in the offering. The final share allocation, listing date, and commencement of trading on the NSE and BSE will be determined following the completion of the subscription period and regulatory approvals.
