The National Test Agency (NTA) has issued clarification regarding acceptable identity documents for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2027 examination. The agency has confirmed that a valid passport can serve as sufficient identification proof during the online application submission process for Session 1.
This directive simplifies documentation requirements for NRI applicants, many of whom may not possess an Aadhar Card or face difficulties in obtaining one due to residency status. The acceptance of passport as a primary identity verification document aligns with international standards for identifying Indian citizens living abroad and streamlines the registration procedure.
Candidates currently completing their JEE Main 2027 Session 1 applications need not delay their submissions pending Aadhar Card acquisition. The clarity on alternative identity documentation is expected to facilitate smoother registration for the engineering entrance examination, which serves as the gateway to top engineering institutions across India.
Prospective candidates are advised to ensure their passport details match the information provided in their application forms to avoid discrepancies during the verification process. The NTA's updated guidelines remain applicable throughout the Session 1 registration window.
