The National Test Agency (NTA) has granted an extension to candidates appearing for the UGC NET December 2026 examination, providing additional time to complete fee payments. Applicants who have successfully submitted their application forms but have not yet remitted the examination fee can now do so until November 1, the agency announced.

The extension applies specifically to candidates whose application forms have been accepted by the NTA but whose fee transactions remain incomplete. This measure aims to provide relief to aspirants who may have faced technical difficulties or logistical challenges in meeting the original payment deadline.

The UGC NET examination is a critical qualifying test for individuals seeking eligibility for assistant professor positions and junior research fellowships at Indian universities and research institutions. The December 2026 session forms part of the NTA's regular examination calendar.

Candidates are advised to initiate fee payment transactions well before the extended deadline to avoid last-minute technical glitches or server congestion. The NTA has not indicated whether further extensions beyond November 1 will be considered.
