NTK chief signals party entry into Tamil Nadu bypoll race

The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is preparing to enter the fray for the Ambasamudram byelection in Tamil Nadu, with party chief Seeman signalling the organisation's intention to field a candidate in the contest.

Seeman announced that the party will formally launch its election campaign from Palayamkottai on November 26, marking the date associated with slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. The choice of venue and date underscores the ideological positioning the regional outfit intends to adopt during its poll push.

The Ambasamudram constituency, located in Tirunelveli district, has become a focal point for various political formations seeking to expand their influence in southern Tamil Nadu. The NTK's entry into the byelection would add another dimension to what is expected to be a competitive electoral contest.

As a Dravidian ideological outfit, the NTK has sought to position itself as an alternative to established parties in Tamil Nadu politics. The party's decision to contest the Ambasamudram seat reflects its broader strategy to contest elections across the state and build organisational strength at the grassroots level.
