Nuclear fuel shipments for Rooppur Unit-2 to commence in October

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, located in Pabna district northwest of Dhaka, is being constructed with Russian technical cooperation and financing. Rosatom's announcement indicates that preparations for Unit-2's operational phase are advancing according to schedule, following the completion of critical construction and safety verification stages.

The commencement of fuel deliveries represents a significant step toward bringing the second reactor into service. Unit-1 of the plant has already been progressing through its own developmental timeline, with both reactors designed to enhance Bangladesh's energy generation capacity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The nuclear facility is expected to provide substantial baseload electricity to the national grid once both units become operational. The project reflects Bangladesh's strategy to diversify its energy sources and meet the country's growing power demand as its economy continues to expand.
