Conservancy workers engaged under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) have called off their ongoing protests after the latest round of discussions with the state government yielded significant concessions on their core demands.
Among the benefits agreed upon during negotiations is a daily food allowance of ₹50 to be implemented from October 1. The state has also addressed several other demands raised by the workers during the talks, signalling movement on issues that had prompted the industrial action.
The temporary suspension of protests represents a breakthrough in the dialogue between the worker representatives and government officials, though outstanding issues remain to be resolved. Both sides have committed to continuing negotiations to reach a comprehensive settlement.
Further discussions are scheduled for October 3, when negotiators will reconvene to address remaining grievances and finalise terms acceptable to all parties. The next round of talks is expected to cover additional demands not yet fully resolved during the current phase of negotiations.
