Nursing homes to boost end-of-life care training in two-year partnership

Dover Park Hospice and NTUC Health have joined forces to deliver comprehensive end-of-life care training to nursing home staff across Singapore. The two-year programme aims to strengthen palliative care capabilities within residential aged care facilities as the nation grapples with an ageing demographic.

The initiative responds to a critical gap in end-of-life care provision, with demand expected to accelerate as Singapore's elderly population expands. By building expertise among frontline care workers, the partnership seeks to enhance quality of life for residents in their final stages and provide better support to families navigating end-of-life decisions.

Under the collaboration, staff will receive structured training in pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support, and communication skills essential to palliative care. The programme is designed to complement existing hospice services and create a more integrated approach to aged care across Singapore's healthcare ecosystem.

The partnership reflects broader efforts by healthcare providers and operators to address service gaps in Singapore's rapidly ageing society. With an estimated 440,000 residents aged 65 and above, demand for specialist care services continues to outpace supply, making workforce development a priority for the healthcare sector.
