NUS students launch AI app to support family caregivers across region

The application, created by a team of NUS students, leverages AI technology to understand the specific challenges faced by individuals caring for elderly relatives at home. By listening to caregivers' concerns and circumstances, Ahma provides personalised guidance and connects users with relevant support networks and resources tailored to their needs.

The initiative addresses a significant gap in caregiver support across the region. Many family caregivers, particularly those caring for ageing parents or grandparents, often lack access to information about available services, financial assistance programmes, and practical care strategies. The student developers identified this challenge and designed Ahma to serve as a readily accessible digital companion.

The app's functionality extends beyond simple information provision. Through its AI capabilities, Ahma aims to offer empathetic engagement with users, recognising the emotional and physical toll of caregiving responsibilities. This approach acknowledges that caregivers frequently experience isolation and stress while managing their duties.
