Nvidia explores credit backing for Anthropic's US data centre project

The technology giant is reportedly considering committing billions of dollars in credit support to underwrite Nscale's financing for the ambitious infrastructure project, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. The West Virginia facility would serve as a critical computing hub for Anthropic, the AI research company backed by substantial investment from major technology firms.

Credit guarantees of this scale reflect the enormous capital requirements for building modern AI data centres, which demand significant upfront investment in computing hardware, cooling systems, and electrical infrastructure. Such backing from a major semiconductor supplier could provide Nscale with improved financing terms and reduced borrowing costs.

Anthromic has emerged as a key player in the competitive artificial intelligence sector, developing large language models and related technologies. The proposed West Virginia facility would support the company's computational needs as it scales research and commercial operations.

However, the deal structure remains fluid, with negotiations ongoing between the parties. Industry observers note that such large infrastructure financing arrangements often take considerable time to finalise, with multiple regulatory and technical considerations requiring resolution before any formal commitment materialises.
