OCBC earnings grow 3% to $2.04b on strong banking operations

Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation reported net earnings of $2.04 billion for the third quarter, representing a 3 per cent increase from the prior year period. The result was driven by record profits from banking operations, reflecting the bank's strong market performance across its core business segments.

Loan growth remained a key contributor to the quarter's performance, with the bank expanding its lending portfolio across both retail and corporate segments. Customer flow trading income also maintained its upward trajectory, underscoring sustained client activity in foreign exchange and other trading operations.

Fee income remained resilient throughout the quarter, providing additional support to overall profitability. The combination of these factors demonstrated the bank's ability to capitalise on regional economic activity and client demand for financial services.

The result reflects OCBC's position as one of Southeast Asia's leading financial institutions, with diversified revenue streams helping to support earnings growth despite a complex operating environment. The bank's performance suggests continued strength in Singapore's banking sector heading into the final quarter of the year.
