Odisha disburses ₹833 crore to farmers under CM-KISAN scheme

The Odisha government has released ₹833 crore to the bank accounts of 41.36 lakh farmers under its CM-KISAN scheme, marking the fifth instalment of the assistance programme. The financial transfer is timed to support farmers in acquiring seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides ahead of the 2026-27 Rabi crop season.

The CM-KISAN scheme is designed to provide direct financial assistance to cultivators during critical periods of the agricultural calendar, reducing their dependence on informal credit channels and enabling access to quality inputs. The scheme has emerged as a key component of the state's agricultural support infrastructure, particularly for small and marginal farmers who form the majority of Odisha's agricultural workforce.

With the Rabi season approaching, the timely disbursement of funds is expected to facilitate farmers' preparations for winter crop cultivation. The release of the fifth instalment demonstrates the government's commitment to sustaining agricultural productivity and farmer welfare during the crucial pre-sowing phase.
