Odisha District Shuts Schools As Heavy Rains Loom

All schools and Anganwadi centres in Odisha's Khordha district have been ordered to shut their doors from September 22 to 24 as the state braces for severe weather. The closure has been announced in anticipation of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall expected from a deep depression affecting the region.

District authorities issued the directive to ensure the safety of students, teachers and staff during the inclement weather. The decision covers all educational institutions within the district's jurisdiction, with officials advising parents to keep children indoors during the forecasted period.

The deep depression is expected to bring significant precipitation that could lead to waterlogging and hazardous conditions on roads and in low-lying areas. Such weather systems frequently disrupt transportation and normal functioning across coastal and inland districts of Odisha.

The state's meteorological department has been closely monitoring the system's trajectory. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary during the three-day window when schools will remain shut.
