The coffee originates primarily from the Nandapur and Machhkund areas of Koraput district, where cultivation thrives at elevations between 920 and 950 metres. These geographical conditions have established the region as a distinctive coffee-producing area with unique characteristics suitable for premium-grade beans.
Odisha officials view the BRICS Summit presence as validation of the commercial viability of products emerging from the state's remote agricultural zones. The initiative reflects a broader strategy to link small-scale and tribal farmers with international buyers, potentially transforming rural economies through agricultural exports.
