The eastern state has secured investment intents valued at ₹53,894 crore during the recent outreach programme conducted in Mumbai ahead of India Chem 2026. The initiative yielded nine memoranda of understanding alongside four formal investment intents from prospective investors, signalling growing confidence in Odisha's industrial ecosystem.
The committed investments span a diverse range of sectors critical to India's economic growth, including power generation, chemicals manufacturing, metals production, textiles and agro-processing. This sectoral diversity reflects Odisha's established competitive advantages in resource-based industries and its improving infrastructure for value-added manufacturing.
Stakeholders estimate the investments will generate approximately 20,210 employment opportunities across the state. This employment potential underscores the significance of the pledges for local economic development and skill utilisation in Odisha, which has been strengthening its position as an industrial hub in eastern India.
The outreach programme represents part of broader efforts to position Odisha prominently in India's chemical and industrial sector landscape. India Chem 2026 is expected to serve as a platform to consolidate these investment intents and attract further commitments from domestic and international investors seeking opportunities in India's growing industrial base.
