Odisha to finalize electoral roll revisions by mid-September

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha has entered its final stages, with the state's chief electoral officer announcing firm timelines for completing the process. The deadline for citizens to file claims and objections for voter registration and revision ended on Wednesday, marking a key milestone in the exercise.

According to an official statement from the office of Odisha's chief electoral officer, all pending claims and objections will be adjudicated by September 17. The final voter list incorporating these decisions will be published on September 21, providing clarity ahead of potential electoral processes.

The revision process has seen substantial participation from eligible voters across the state. As of August 19, notices have been issued to approximately 58.36 lakh individuals regarding their electoral status. The state has provisionally considered around 3.09 crore eligible voters for inclusion in the final electoral roll, though officials indicated this figure may increase as the hearing and verification process continues.

Electoral authorities have clarified that citizens who received notices but were unable to submit required documentation within the deadline will have their cases reviewed during the ongoing hearing process. The comprehensive revision aims to ensure an accurate and updated voter database for the state.
