Oil prices decline as US inventory surge outweighs supply concerns

Brent crude futures slid 93 cents to settle at $107.82 per barrel, marking a 0.86% decline in early Asian trading. US West Texas Intermediate crude also weakened, falling 97 cents to $104.86 a barrel, representing a 0.92% pullback from previous levels.

The downward movement in crude prices reflects growing inventory data from the United States, where rising stockpiles are signalling easing demand pressures in the world's largest oil consumer. The accumulation of crude reserves has outweighed geopolitical and supply-side concerns that typically support higher valuations.

However, market participants remain attentive to developments affecting major producing nations. Saudi Arabia's supply management continues to influence trader sentiment, though immediate supply disruption fears appear insufficient to counter the bearish inventory indicators at present.

The twin declines across both Brent and WTI contracts suggest broad-based softening in crude valuations, with traders recalibrating their positions ahead of the weekend. The moves underscore the ongoing tension between supply considerations and demand fundamentals in global energy markets.
