Oil prices edge higher following reports of US military action near Iran

Oil prices climbed in early trading on Wednesday, with markets responding to reports of US military operations in the Persian Gulf region. Brent crude futures, the global benchmark, rose 48 cents to reach $105.25 per barrel, representing a 0.5% increase. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate crude advanced 47 cents to $96.93 per barrel, also up 0.5%, according to trading data from 0104 GMT.

The price movements reflect ongoing geopolitical tensions in a region critical to global energy supply. Market participants have remained sensitive to any developments that could potentially disrupt oil production or transportation through strategic waterways.

The modest gains underscore investor caution regarding further escalation in the Middle East. Analysts continue to monitor the situation closely, given the region's significance to world crude supplies and the potential for price volatility if tensions intensify further.
