Oil prices slip as Saudi export recovery outweighs Houthi threat

International crude oil prices slipped in early Monday trading as markets reassessed the balance between supply recovery and geopolitical risks in the Middle East. Brent crude futures declined 81 cents, or 0.78%, to $103.06 per barrel at 0031 GMT, extending losses from Friday's 0.91% drop.

The pullback reflects growing confidence among investors that Saudi Arabia's oil export capacity is stabilizing despite persistent attacks on shipping lanes and infrastructure by Houthi militants. Signals of improved crude flows from the kingdom have tempered concerns about major supply disruptions that previously supported higher prices.

However, the security situation remains fluid, with Houthi forces continuing strikes against vessels and regional assets in the Red Sea corridor. The militant group's attacks have created lingering uncertainty for traders calculating the true cost of Middle Eastern crude supplies.

The decline in oil prices comes as global markets continue to digest mixed signals on energy demand and supply dynamics. Investors are closely monitoring both Saudi production announcements and developments in the Red Sea as key factors that could shift crude valuations in coming sessions.
