Oilmax-Eleven tie-up secures Kutch offshore oil and gas block

Oilmax Energy and Eleven will each hold equal 50 per cent stakes in the Kutch offshore block, awarded through India's Discovery of Sedimentary Formations (DSF) licensing round. The bloc represents another step in the government's broader strategy to boost domestic oil and gas output while decreasing reliance on imports.

The DSF round is designed to open up unexplored areas for hydrocarbon exploration, allowing companies to identify and develop new reserves. The Kutch block, located off India's western coast, is among several parcels made available under this initiative.

Oilmax Energy brings substantial expertise in upstream operations, while Eleven's participation strengthens the consortium's technical and financial capacity. The equal partnership structure allows both entities to share development responsibilities and investment requirements.

India has been pursuing aggressive strategies to enhance domestic oil and gas exploration as part of its energy security objectives. The DSF round complements existing licensing frameworks, encouraging private and joint-venture participation in offshore and onshore exploration ventures.

The consortium will now proceed with detailed technical assessments and development planning for the block. Timeline and investment requirements for commencement of operations will depend on exploration outcomes and regulatory approvals.
