Ojha appointed BCCI chief selector; Powar joins selection committee

Pragyan Ojha, the retired cricketer who represented India in multiple formats, has been entrusted with leading the BCCI's selection committee as chief selector. The appointment marks a significant transition in Indian cricket's administrative structure as the board reshuffles its selection hierarchy.

Ojha's appointment comes after Ajit Agarkar stepped down from the chief selector position. The former India pacer had held the role until his recent exit, which prompted the board to seek a replacement to oversee team selections across formats.

Ramesh Powar, a former India off-spinner and established figure in Indian cricket circles, has been inducted into the selection panel to work alongside Ojha. Powar's addition to the committee reflects the BCCI's effort to strengthen its selection apparatus with experienced cricket minds.

Ojha, who played 24 Tests and 18 ODIs for India during his international career, brings extensive knowledge of Indian cricket conditions and player assessment. His appointment signals the board's confidence in his ability to guide the selection process during a crucial phase of Indian cricket's development across formats.
