Mohan Meakin Ltd has decided to cease its legal challenge against the FSSAI's directive regarding product labeling at its Khopoli manufacturing unit in Maharashtra. The company's decision to withdraw the plea indicates a shift in its approach to resolving the regulatory matter.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India had previously issued an order barring the sale and distribution of multiple Old Monk products manufactured at the Khopoli facility, citing labeling and compliance concerns. The regulatory action had prompted the company to approach the courts to contest the decision.

With the withdrawal of its legal plea, Mohan Meakin has committed to implementing the necessary modifications to its product labels to align with FSSAI requirements. The company's compliance move is expected to pave the way for resumption of sales of the affected Old Monk variants.

Old Monk, one of India's leading rum brands, has maintained a significant market presence across the country. The resolution of this regulatory dispute comes as the company works to ensure full adherence to food safety labeling standards established by the central authority.

The development reflects ongoing efforts by beverage manufacturers to meet evolving regulatory compliance standards, particularly regarding product labeling and consumer information requirements set by FSSAI.
