Oman records double-digit growth in Indian tourist arrivals
Oman welcomed nearly 694,000 Indian visitors in 2025, marking an 11 percent year-on-year increase as the Arabian nation strengthens its appeal among Indian travellers. The surge reflects deepening tourism ties rooted in centuries of shared maritime commerce and cultural bonds.

Oman's tourism sector is experiencing robust growth from India, with official figures showing 6.94 lakh Indian arrivals in 2025, according to Yousuf Khalaf Al Mujaizi, Assistant Director of Business Development at the Tourism Promotion Directorate under Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
The 11 percent increase represents a significant expansion of the bilateral travel market. In the first half of 2026 alone, Oman registered 3.81 lakh Indian visitors, signalling sustained momentum in the sector.
Oman's growing attraction to Indian tourists is anchored in longstanding historical connections. Al Mujaizi attributed the rising visitor numbers to centuries-old ties between the two nations rooted in maritime trade, particularly in spices and textiles, alongside cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Official efforts are underway to consolidate this growth trajectory. Oman is planning enhanced travel engagement initiatives with India, reflecting a strategic push to develop tourism as a commercially viable pillar of bilateral relations. Tourism experts note that this structured approach positions Oman competitively within South Asia's expanding travel market.
