Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expanded his cabinet by inducting four new ministers into the Jammu and Kashmir council of ministers. Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mir Saifullah, Shamim Firdous, and Altaf Ahmad Wani, commonly known as Kallo, were sworn in at a ceremony on Tuesday.
The expansion comes as the administration seeks to broaden its ministerial base and strengthen governance in the Union territory. The four inductees bring diverse political backgrounds and regional representation to the cabinet, reflecting the government's efforts to balance interests across different constituencies.
Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has described the cabinet expansion as a "good change," indicating support from within the regional political establishment. The move signals Abdullah's administration's intention to build a more inclusive governing structure as it navigates policy implementation across the sensitive region.
The cabinet expansion follows Abdullah's return to power after the assembly elections held earlier this year. The administration has faced expectations to deliver on governance priorities while managing the complex political dynamics of the Union territory.
