TAGBILARAN CITY — The Office of the Ombudsman has rendered its decision against former Bohol provincial board member Vierna Mae Boniel-Maglasang, finding her guilty of serious dishonesty in connection with her official duties.

In an announcement released Thursday, the Ombudsman imposed the penalty of dismissal from service on Maglasang, citing her violation of ethical standards expected of public officials. The decision carries significant consequences for the former board member's future in government service.

As accessory penalties, the Ombudsman also canceled Maglasang's civil service eligibility and perpetually disqualified her from holding any public office. These additional sanctions aim to prevent future misconduct by restricting her access to government positions.

The case underscores the Ombudsman's continued enforcement of accountability standards among public officials across the region. The office regularly investigates complaints of administrative misconduct brought against government employees and officials at various levels of government.
