MANILA — The Ombudsman's office is pressing the Supreme Court to move forward on disciplinary proceedings against seven Court of Appeals justices whose case has languished for over a year.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla issued the reminder on Saturday, noting that his predecessor Samuel Martires filed the administrative complaint in March of the previous year. The complaint centers on allegations of gross ignorance of the law involving the seven justices.
Remulla's call for action underscores ongoing concerns about accountability within the judiciary. The Ombudsman's office had previously recommended that formal charges be brought against the erring justices, signaling the gravity of the allegations.
