ONGC battles natural gas leak from Andhra pipeline

A natural gas leak has disrupted operations at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) facility in Andhra Pradesh's Konaseema district, prompting the company to implement emergency containment measures. The leak, originating from a ONGC-operated pipeline in the region, has led to the temporary closure of all wells under the company's management in the area as a precautionary measure.

ONGC teams are actively working to plug the leak and repair the affected pipeline infrastructure. The company has not disclosed the cause of the leak or provided an estimated timeline for restoring normal operations. A new pipeline will need to be installed to replace the damaged section before production activities can resume.

All ONGC wells in Konaseema will remain offline until both the immediate leak is addressed and the replacement pipeline is commissioned. The measure ensures worker safety and prevents further environmental concerns in the region. Konaseema, located in the East Godavari district, is a key production zone for ONGC's onshore operations in Andhra Pradesh.
