Online gambling syndicate chief caught with fake Indonesian passport

Saurabh Chandrakar, a key figure in the Mahadev online gambling operation, has been apprehended with a forged Indonesian passport bearing the name Ajanta Mendis, according to law enforcement sources. The fake travel document was discovered during investigations into the high-profile betting syndicate that has been operating across South Asia.

Chandrakar allegedly used the fraudulent passport to facilitate his flight from authorities, attempting to establish a clandestine presence abroad under the assumed identity. The fake credentials had previously enabled him to evade detection while moving between countries.

In July, Oman's security forces detained Chandrakar at a border checkpoint after identifying irregularities with the forged passport he was carrying. The arrest marked a significant breakthrough in the ongoing international investigation into the Mahadev syndicate's operations.

Authorities have been pursuing Chandrakar as part of a broader crackdown on illegal online betting networks. The discovery of the fabricated travel document underscores the sophisticated methods employed by organized gambling syndicates to evade law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions in the region.
