COTABATO CITY — The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) has concluded a post-assessment workshop examining outcomes from the historic Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, officials announced Sunday.
The government body, which coordinates peace mechanisms with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, convened the workshop to document lessons learned and identify effective practices during the electoral process. The assessment represents part of broader efforts to strengthen implementation of the peace agreement between Manila and the separatist group.
OPAPRU said the review focused on government coordination mechanisms deployed during the elections and their effectiveness in supporting the democratic exercise in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The findings are expected to inform future electoral processes and peace implementation initiatives in the conflict-affected region.
The Bangsamoro parliamentary elections marked a significant milestone in the peace process, with voters electing representatives to the interim parliament that oversees affairs in the autonomous region. The assessment workshop aims to ensure continuous improvement in governance and institutional capacity-building as the Bangsamoro transitional government moves forward.
