The head of Malaysia's opposition has raised concerns about the government's use of funds and resources from major state-linked entities to support various initiatives. He cautioned that such decisions could compromise the interests of these crucial institutions.

The opposition leader has questioned the government's deployment of capital and resources from Petronas, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), and the Employees Provident Fund (KWAP) to finance multiple government initiatives, warning that such measures risk undermining these organisations' core mandates.
The opposition chief characterised these entities as "golden geese" for the nation, emphasising their strategic importance to Malaysia's economic stability and long-term development. He expressed concern that utilising their resources for political objectives could divert them from their primary functions and weaken their operational capacity.
The remarks highlight ongoing tensions between the government and opposition over fiscal policy and the role of state-owned enterprises in national development. The opposition has previously scrutinised how sovereign wealth and energy resources are allocated, particularly when deployment extends beyond traditional commercial and investment purposes.
The government has not immediately responded to the criticism. However, state-linked institutions have occasionally been called upon to support broader national economic and social agendas, a practice that remains contentious among opposition lawmakers and economists who warn of potential long-term consequences for institutional sustainability and shareholder returns.
