Opposition MPs mobilise for President meet over electoral irregularities

Opposition Members of Parliament gathered in the Central Hall of Parliament on Tuesday to prepare for a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, seeking to raise concerns over alleged electoral irregularities and procedural lapses affecting multiple constituencies.

The coordination meeting, led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, brought together opposition lawmakers to strategise their approach ahead of the planned presidential audience. The opposition bloc intends to present a comprehensive report documenting alleged instances of vote irregularities and anomalies in Statutory Internal Reports (SIRs) that have surfaced across their respective electoral regions.

According to opposition sources, approximately 300 MPs are expected to participate in the delegation to the President. The lawmakers plan to formally submit documented evidence of the alleged irregularities, seeking presidential intervention and escalation to appropriate election authorities for investigation and remedial action.

The move reflects growing opposition concerns over the integrity of electoral processes in recent parliamentary elections. By routing their grievances through the President's office, the opposition is attempting to lend constitutional weight to their allegations and ensure institutional scrutiny of the reported discrepancies.
