Opposition MPs plan protest at Jantar Mantar against poll chief

Opposition members of parliament from the INDIA alliance are staging a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, directing criticism at Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge convened the opposition lawmakers at a restaurant on Janpath, positioned approximately 100 metres from the planned protest site. Following the strategic meeting, the MPs proceeded to Jantar Mantar to initiate their agitation against the poll chief. The coordinated action underscores escalating tensions between the opposition and the election commission over governance and electoral administration. The INDIA bloc, an alliance of multiple opposition parties, has increasingly organised joint demonstrations on matters of national concern in recent months, using such protests as a platform to articulate their political positions.
