Opposition party accuses Telangana government of failing farmers on power supply

Opposition leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KTR, has mounted a sharp political offensive against the state government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing it of systematically neglecting the agricultural sector. The BRS leader's remarks centre on what he characterises as a significant disparity between promised and actual power supply to farmers across Telangana.

KTR alleged that cultivators are receiving substantially fewer hours of electricity than the state administration claims to provide. While government officials maintain that farmers are allocated 12 hours of daily power supply, the opposition contends that ground reality reflects only 5-6 hours of actual supply, creating hardship during critical agricultural seasons.

The power supply issue has emerged as a contentious political battleground in Telangana, with farming communities dependent on uninterrupted electricity for irrigation and crop management. KTR's allegations underscore broader concerns about agricultural policy implementation under the current government, with the opposition positioning itself as a champion of farmer interests ahead of potential electoral contests.

The state government has not immediately responded to the opposition's claims regarding the electricity supply discrepancy. The issue reflects ongoing tensions between the ruling Congress-backed administration and the BRS over resource allocation and service delivery in rural Telangana.
