The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kakinada and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts, signalling the likelihood of severe thunderstorm activity as a low-pressure area develops over the Bay of Bengal. The alert indicates potentially hazardous weather conditions requiring heightened vigilance among residents and authorities.
A broader yellow alert has been extended across a wider swath of Andhra Pradesh, covering West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Annamayya, YSR Kadapa and Sri Sathya Sai districts. These districts face the prospect of scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with occasional thunderstorms and strong winds.
The low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal is expected to influence weather patterns across the coastal and interior regions of southern Andhra Pradesh over the coming period. Residents in the orange alert zones have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions, while those under yellow alert should monitor official updates for further developments.
Authorities have been placed on standby to respond swiftly to any weather-related emergencies. Fishermen and maritime workers have been cautioned to exercise caution, with rough sea conditions anticipated in the affected areas.
