Orient Electric launches ceiling fan with air purification technology

Orient Electric has entered the air purification segment with its new Aero O2 Oxygen ceiling fan, designed to address indoor air quality concerns while providing cooling circulation. The fan integrates plasma ion technology alongside conventional cooling functions, positioning it as a hybrid appliance for Indian households.

The device is equipped with a BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor, which offers energy efficiency compared to traditional AC motors commonly found in standard ceiling fans. The plasma ion technology reportedly helps neutralize airborne particles and allergens as the fan circulates air throughout a room.

Oriented at middle-income households, the Aero O2 Oxygen is priced at ₹15,499, positioning it at a premium to conventional ceiling fans but significantly below the cost of standalone air purifiers or split air conditioning units. The pricing reflects the additional technology integrated into the fan's design.

The product represents an emerging trend in India's consumer appliances market, where manufacturers are combining multiple functionalities into single devices to address space and budget constraints in urban homes. However, the extent of its air purification capability compared to dedicated HEPA-based air purifiers remains subject to independent verification.
