Oriental Insurance Company Ltd (OICL) is committing substantial resources to modernize its digital ecosystem, with Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Joshi confirming the ₹500 crore investment over the next three years. The company has already initiated the request for proposals (RFP) process for various digital initiatives, with additional projects scheduled for implementation over the following two years.
The digital roadmap encompasses several key initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience. A centralized data lake project forms the cornerstone of these efforts, designed to consolidate vast amounts of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data in raw format for enhanced analytics and decision-making capabilities.
Beyond infrastructure development, OICL is prioritizing strengthened data security protocols as cyber threats continue to pose significant risks to the insurance sector. The company is leveraging internal resources and capital allocation to fund these technological enhancements without external dependencies.
The insurer is also moving to expand its digital product portfolio, seeking to introduce additional offerings at the earliest opportunity. These initiatives underscore OICL's strategic pivot toward digital-first operations and customer engagement in a rapidly evolving insurance landscape.
