CALAPAN CITY — Provincial authorities recorded substantial passenger traffic through Oriental Mindoro's key maritime terminals over the extended Undas holiday period, reflecting the annual surge in domestic travel during the observance.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office documented combined inbound and outbound passenger movements exceeding 30,000 individuals across major ports in the province between October 30 and early November 3. Port facilities in Calapan managed significant portions of this traffic volume as travellers moved between regions.
The heightened passenger numbers are consistent with annual patterns during All Saints' Day, when Filipinos traditionally journey to cemeteries and provincial hometowns to commemorate deceased family members. Regional seaports serve as critical transit points facilitating these seasonal movements across the archipelago.
Local disaster management officials monitored port operations throughout the holiday period to ensure smooth passenger processing and maintain safety protocols during the busy travel window.
