CALAPAN CITY — Oriental Mindoro has administered measles and rubella vaccines to 44,003 children aged 6 to 59 months, marking a midway point in the province's immunization initiative. The figure represents 51.05 percent progress toward the provincial target of 86,196 children, according to data from the Ligtas Tigdas vaccination tracker.
The Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity has been extended in Oriental Mindoro as health authorities work to expand coverage across the province. Provincial health officials continue efforts to reach remaining children in the target age group through both static and mobile vaccination sites.
Measles and rubella remain significant public health concerns in the Philippines despite the availability of effective vaccines. The supplemental immunization activities aim to close immunity gaps and prevent outbreaks of these highly contagious viral diseases.
